What BenchLM collects, why it is used, and the choices available to visitors and newsletter subscribers.

Who is responsible

Information we collect

Google Analytics, Fathom Analytics, and Ahrefs Web Analytics receive pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location, device and browser information, and interaction events. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, or newsletter form contents to analytics providers.

Newsletter signup records may include an email address, source page, country or market policy, consent state and version, signup status, and delivery timestamps. Cloudflare provides request and security metadata needed to operate the site and protect the signup endpoint.

The AI prompt generator and prompt optimizer send the brief or prompt to OpenRouter so the selected model provider can return a result. BenchLM does not save that text in its database, logs, or analytics. Requests require zero-data-retention and no-data-collection provider routing. Anonymous limits store a salted one-way hash of the client IP for up to 48 hours; the raw IP is not stored in the rate-limit table.

After a prompt result, visitors may rate it as useful or not useful and select a predefined reason. BenchLM stores that rating with bounded operational metadata such as the tool, target model family, model version, length bands, latency band, and retry outcome. It does not attach the submitted brief, prompt, or generated result. Optional written feedback is limited to 500 characters and deleted after 90 days; visitors are asked not to include personal, confidential, prompt, or generated content.

If a visitor uses Dictate, the browser asks for microphone permission and performs speech recognition. The browser may send audio to its speech service. We do not receive or store the audio, and recognized text is treated like text typed into the field.

Recognized search and AI crawlers are measured in an internal feed. It receives the requested path, request method, timestamp, and crawler name, but excludes raw IP addresses, query strings, and the crawler's full user-agent string.

When optional analytics are allowed, sponsored placements are counted so advertisers can be told how often a labeled unit was seen and clicked. If a browser blocks the Google Analytics library, a first-party endpoint can report those events to Google Analytics and record them in a delivery ledger. Both paths respect the analytics choice. The report carries placement and campaign fields, page path, country, device category, and a session-scoped identifier. It does not carry the IP address or the browser's full user-agent string. Rejecting analytics stops these browser event reports and ledger writes.

How information is used

  • Operate, secure, diagnose, and improve BenchLM.
  • Measure which research, tools, and navigation are useful.
  • Send the weekly newsletter and maintain confirmation, consent, delivery, and unsubscribe records.
  • Detect automated abuse and enforce hashed signup-rate limits.
  • Generate or rewrite a prompt when a visitor submits one of the prompt tools.
  • Measure prompt-tool output quality and prioritize product improvements.

Service providers and external links

Cloudflare hosts application infrastructure and newsletter records. Resend sends newsletter email and returns delivery, bounce, complaint, failure, and suppression events. OpenRouter routes prompt-tool requests to an eligible model provider under the request's privacy controls. Analytics providers process usage data under their own terms. Crisp loads on the Radar and advertising pages only when you choose “Chat with us”; it can then process chat messages and use storage to maintain that conversation. Affiliate and source links lead to independent sites with separate privacy practices.

Cookies and optional analytics

In the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and when location is unknown, Google Analytics, Fathom Analytics, and Ahrefs Web Analytics wait for your opt-in. We use that consent to measure page visits, tool and navigation interactions, and sponsored placements. In other known regions, these analytics load by default unless you reject them in Cookie settings. An explicit rejection applies everywhere.

Google Analytics uses cookies. Fathom and Ahrefs use cookieless measurement, which can process request information such as IP address and browser details to produce site statistics. All three follow the same analytics choice on this site. Consent to website analytics is separate from subscribing to the newsletter.

  • benchlm_cookie_choice stores acceptance or rejection, the notice version, the time of the choice, and a receipt reference for 180 days. It is used to honor your choice, including by the server-side event relay, and is not sent to analytics providers.
  • Google's _ga and property-specific _ga_ cookies measure visits when analytics are allowed. We configure a 180-day lifetime without renewing it on each visit.
  • benchlm_inception_visitor lasts up to one year and is set only when analytics are allowed and you open an Inception sponsored offer. It creates a visitor reference and a separate click reference sent to Inception with the link. Rejecting analytics removes this cookie; the offer remains available without those references.
  • Session storage used for analytics, including sponsor impressions, affiliate sampling, and AI-referral counts, is limited to the browser session and cleared when you withdraw analytics permission.

The consent endpoint records a minimal receipt containing the choice, notice version, timestamp, expiry, and receipt reference in application logs. It does not add an email, IP address, user-agent string, or browsing history to that receipt. Receipt logs follow Cloudflare's configured log retention; the browser choice expires after 180 days. Changes to the analytics purposes or notice version can require a new choice.

Analytics providers may process data outside your country. Google's processing and transfer terms apply to Google Analytics. Fathom describes EU data isolation for personal request data and separate storage of anonymized statistics. Ahrefs describes daily visitor hashes and reuse of aggregate data for studies and service improvement. Storage and retention

BenchLM uses browser storage for interface preferences, newsletter status, popup frequency, and the one-time handoff of a generated prompt to the optimizer. The handoff stays in the current browser session and is deleted when the optimizer reads it. Newsletter and consent records are retained as needed to provide the service, honor unsubscribe requests, prevent abuse, and meet applicable obligations. Rate-limit records store one-way hashes rather than raw IP addresses and expire from the active table. Structured prompt feedback is retained for up to one year; optional written feedback is deleted after 90 days.

Your choices

You can at any time. Rejecting optional analytics stops future analytics reporting and clears the analytics cookies this site uses. If analytics scripts have already loaded, the page reloads to unload them. Withdrawal does not undo processing that happened before your choice. Browser privacy controls and content blockers can also restrict requests.

You may unsubscribe using any newsletter link. Depending on your location, you may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection by writing to hello@benchlm.ai. Some records may be retained where necessary to honor an unsubscribe or legal requirement.
